The Jigawa State Government has signed a five-million-dollar agreement with Tesni Green Power Energy Limited to establish a solar panel assembling plant in the state as part of its plan to generate 100 megawatts of solar energy and expand access to clean, affordable power.
Governor Umar Namadi presided over the signing ceremony between the state government and the renewable energy firm.
Under the agreement, a 100-megawatt solar panel assembling plant will be established in Jigawa to support the state’s clean energy transition and reduce reliance on imported solar products.
Leading the Tesni Green Power delegation, Engineer Bashir Ishaq said the project is designed to promote renewable energy access while strengthening local manufacturing capacity.
He disclosed that when completed, the facility will assemble solar panels, solar pumps, and other renewable energy products to serve Jigawa State and neighbouring states.
State officials said the project is expected to create jobs, boost local economic activity, and support small businesses involved in the renewable energy value chain.
They added that the investment aligns with Jigawa State’s broader strategy to diversify its economy, expand sustainable power supply, and attract green energy investments.
