The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested 17 suspects linked to various criminal activities and recovered 24,000 units of illicit drugs, motorcycles, a vehicle, valuables and livestock during coordinated operations across the state.
The Command disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday by its Public Relations Officer, SP Shiisu Adam, attributing the successes to intelligence-driven operations, routine patrols and credible information from members of the public.
24,000 illicit drugs intercepted in Sule Tankarkar
According to the statement, operatives on January 15, 2026, arrested one Tukur Abdulmumin, 33, at Danladi village in Sule Tankarkar Local Government Area with 24,000 pieces of Exol tablets valued at ₦1.2 million.
Police said a second suspect, Adamu Babangida, 42, was later arrested during preliminary investigation. Both suspects were reportedly travelling from Kano State on a motorcycle to dispose of the drugs. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for further investigation and prosecution.
Suspected stolen motorcycles, vehicle recovered
On January 12, operatives attached to B Division, Hadejia, arrested one Usman Isah, 25, from Musari Village, Guri LGA, with a red Kasea motorcycle suspected to be stolen.
Police said the suspect confessed to stealing the motorcycle in Hadejia on January 9 and was also linked to another motorcycle theft on January 4. The recovered motorcycle has been identified by its rightful owner, while the suspect will be charged after investigation.
In another operation on January 11, a patrol team intercepted a dark blue Golf 3 Wagon vehicle conveying five occupants and two cows along Guri axis. Police said both the vehicle and livestock were suspected to be stolen.
The five suspects, all from Jakusku LGA of Yobe State, were transferred to SCID Dutse for investigation.
Tricycle robbery, stolen items under investigation
The Command also disclosed that on January 11, a Kano-based man reported being robbed by a tricycle driver and two passengers after returning from Bauchi State.
Items stolen included two laptops, two cameras, a mobile phone and clothing. Police said one suspect has been arrested, while investigation continues to recover the items and arrest other accomplices.
Livestock theft suspects arrested across divisions
The police further announced the arrest of seven suspects by operatives of the Maigatari, Gagarawa, Shuwarin and Kafin Hausa divisions over the theft of cows, horses, donkeys, sheep and goats.

Recovered livestock are being documented, while efforts are ongoing to arrest fleeing suspects and reunite the animals with their owners.
Other arrests, recovery recorded
On January 10, operatives from Shuwarin Division arrested two suspects from Bauchi State over alleged conspiracy and theft involving a mobile phone and ₦50,000 cash. The handset was recovered, and the suspects have been charged to court.
The Command thanked residents, traditional leaders and community vigilante groups for their cooperation, urging the public to continue reporting suspicious activities to aid crime prevention across Jigawa State.
