The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that 1,687,860 candidates have registered for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) as of Monday.
According to JAMB’s weekly bulletin, the registration process, which began on February 3, 2025, has been ongoing for 26 days and will close on March 8, 2025, with no extension beyond this date.
The 2025 UTME is set to take place from Friday, April 18, 2025.
JAMB had earlier projected that two million candidates would register for the exam. A breakdown of the registration figures shows that 201,867 candidates registered in the first week, followed by 560,025 in the second week, 528,832 in the third week, and 1,290,715 by the fourth week.
A comparison with the 2024 UTME reveals that 1,989,668 candidates registered for that exam, with 1,904,189 sitting for it and 80,810 absent. Of those who took the exam, 73.7% (1,402,490 candidates) scored below 200, while only 0.4% achieved scores above 300.
JAMB has reaffirmed that the registration deadline remains March 8, 2025, urging candidates to complete their registration before the closing date.
