IGP Egbetokun Hosts US Narcotics and Law Enforcement Officials
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on Saturday received a delegation from the United States Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) during a courtesy visit to Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The US officials, led by Deputy Assistant Secretary Ms Maggie Nardi, work with Nigeria to support policing, fight narcotics, and strengthen internal security. The delegation also included Mr Jacob Wright, Senior Advisor, and Mr Grane Douglas, Acting Director, INL Abuja.
Focus on Training and Operational Support
The visit reviewed ongoing cooperation and explored ways to strengthen Nigeria Police operations through specialised training programmes and the provision of modern operational equipment.
Ms Nardi reaffirmed the US commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force, emphasising that sustained collaboration is critical for building institutional capacity and improving operational effectiveness.
IGP Highlights Positive Impact
IGP Egbetokun expressed appreciation for the support, particularly in tactical capacity development. He highlighted the positive impact of INL-backed training on the Special Intervention Squad (SIS), noting the professionalism and discipline displayed by officers in recent operations.
He reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to adopting global best practices, enhancing service delivery, and strengthening cooperation with international partners to ensure a safer Nigeria.
