Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has expressed displeasure over the pace and sequence of work on a hospital project in the state, criticising the contractor for prioritising a mortuary over other critical hospital facilities.
During an inspection of the project, the governor reportedly told the contractor:
“I said build a hospital and you started with a mortuary. Don’t say that again.”
The exchange, shared on social media by Uche Nworah, former Special Adviser on General Duties to the Director-General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, has since generated reactions online.
Governor Eno’s remarks highlight his insistence that key hospital facilities be constructed in proper order, ensuring the project delivers the healthcare services the state requires.
