The Plateau State chapter of the Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria (GAFDAN) has reported a fresh attack on herders and the poisoning of their cattle in Riyom Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued by the group’s media arm on Tuesday, the incident occurred on Monday, February 2, 2026, in Kwi community. The assailants allegedly opened fire on herders who were peacefully grazing their cattle, forcing them to flee while an unspecified number of cows were stolen.
The statement also noted that a few days prior, three cows belonging to herders Alhaji Abdullahi Abdulkadir and Yau Sale died after allegedly consuming poison-laced oranges left in the grazing area.
GAFDAN called on security agencies to investigate and apprehend the perpetrators to prevent potential reprisals and further loss of lives and property.
