ADC’s 2027 strategy under fire
Minister of Art, Culture and Tourism, Hannatu Musawa, has warned that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) risks a decisive defeat in the 2027 presidential election if it fields Peter Obi as its candidate.
Musawa said such a decision would hand President Bola Tinubu an easy victory, describing Obi’s candidacy as the fastest way for the opposition to lose the election.
Atiku not a match for Tinubu — Musawa
Speaking on the latest edition of the Mic One podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, the minister also dismissed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s chances against Tinubu, although she acknowledged his political strength.
“I don’t think Atiku is a match for Tinubu, but he is a formidable opponent. Atiku, as much as I admire him as a patriot, I don’t think he is a match for Tinubu,” Musawa said.
Warning against Peter Obi ticket
Musawa was more emphatic about the consequences of an Obi-led ticket, insisting it would doom the opposition’s chances.
“If Peter Obi is on the ticket as the presidential candidate, that is the fastest way the opposition is going to lose this 2027 election, I promise you,” she said.
Zoning and power rotation concerns
The minister further argued that an Atiku candidacy under the ADC would signal disregard for power rotation, noting that the South should retain the presidency.
“And if it’s Atiku on that ticket, it means the ADC doesn’t recognise that the South should maintain power,” she added.
