Governor Adeleke Reaffirms Loyalty to PDP Amid Defection Speculations
Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has firmly denied widespread rumours of an impending defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), restating his full commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The governor made the clarification in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Saturday in Osogbo, amid growing speculation surrounding his political allegiance.
“Ignore the Fake News,” Says Adeleke
Describing the defection reports as “fake news,” Adeleke assured the people of Osun State that he remains a proud member and leader of the PDP.
“I assure the good people of Osun that I remain part and parcel of the PDP family. I am not defecting to any party,” the governor said.
He also reiterated his administration’s focus on the implementation of its five-point agenda and promised continued delivery of good governance and democratic dividends.
Osun PDP Also Refutes Coalition Claims
Adding to the denial, the Osun State chapter of the PDP also debunked claims that Governor Adeleke is part of any new political coalition led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Speaking on Tuesday in Osogbo, the state PDP chairman, Sunday Bisi, affirmed that the governor has no ties to the coalition reportedly being formed under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a political force ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We Are Not Part of Any Coalition” PDP Chairman
Bisi emphasized that the PDP in Osun remains united, committed to its core values, and focused on delivering for the people under the current leadership.
“Governor Adeleke is fully committed to the PDP. We are not involved in any coalition or alliance. Our party remains strong and united in Osun,” Bisi stated.
The clarification comes amid national conversations about political realignments as Nigeria approaches the 2027 election cycle.
