A former Chairman of Jama’are Local Government Area in Bauchi State, Isa Muhammad Wabi, has been confirmed dead following a brutal early morning attack allegedly carried out by acquaintances of his son.
The Bauchi State Police Command, in a statement released Friday by its spokesperson, SP Ahmed Wakil, said the incident occurred in the Fadaman Mada area, behind Government Girls’ Secondary School, Bauchi, in the early hours of Friday, May 2, 2025.
“On the early morning of Friday, May 2, 2025, at about 0403hrs, the command received a distress call from a Good Samaritan concerning an attack by a group of youths,” Wakil said.
Responding officers found 66-year-old Wabi in critical condition with multiple stab wounds to his neck. He was rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, but was later confirmed dead.
Preliminary investigations revealed that two suspects, Ahmad Abdulkadir (aka Abba) and Faruk Malami (aka Ajebo), allegedly entered the home around 3:00 a.m. and conspired to attack the former chairman. The suspects are reportedly known associates of Wabi’s 24-year-old son, Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed.
According to the police, one of the suspects, identified as Ajebo, was found unconscious at the scene, possibly due to retaliation during the incident.
Abdulgafar has been taken into custody and is said to be cooperating with investigators, providing crucial information to aid the ongoing probe.
“The Bauchi State Police Command is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the motive behind the attack and ensure that all responsible parties are brought to justice,” Wakil stated.
This tragic event adds to a growing concern over youth violence and security in local communities across Bauchi State.
