FCT police dismantle robbery gang targeting nightclubs
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested six suspects linked to a string of armed robberies targeting nightclubs and recreational centres in Abuja, disrupting what police described as an active criminal network.
The arrests followed a directive by the Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye, who ordered an immediate operation based on credible intelligence, police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh said on Sunday.
Intelligence-led raid in Dei-Dei
According to Adeh, the operation was carried out on Friday, January 17, 2026, at about 5:45 pm by officers of the Scorpion Squad led by ACP Victor Godfrey.
The team tracked the suspects to their hideout in Dakwa, Dei-Dei area, where they were arrested while allegedly planning another attack.
Suspects linked to Crystal Lounge robbery
Police identified the suspects as Suleiman Magaji (25), Abdullahi Abubakar (20), Abubakar Shitu (25), Sani Ibrahim (17), Rabiu Dahiru (19), and Ahmen Abdullahi (26).
Preliminary investigations linked the group to several robberies within the FCT, including a recent incident at Crystal Lounge, Wuse II, where a hotel guest was robbed of gold jewellery valued at about ₦15 million. The items were reportedly sold for ₦1.2 million.
Weapons and suspected drugs recovered
During the raid, officers recovered a black toy gun, local charms, long and short knives, and 42 bags of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa.
The suspects and recovered exhibits are currently in police custody and will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
Police commend public support
CP Dantawaye commended the officers involved in the operation and thanked residents for providing information that led to the arrests.

“Together, we will continue to rid the Federal Capital Territory of criminal elements,” the police commissioner said.
