Enugu Air, operated by XEJET, has acquired a new aircraft, an Embraer 195, as part of efforts to strengthen its operations and expand capacity. The airline said the addition marks another step in its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and efficient air travel services.
In a statement, the airline acknowledged the support of Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, noting that his commitment to aviation development continues to enhance connectivity and economic growth in the region. It described the aircraft acquisition as a milestone in building an airline customers can depend on.
Enugu Air officially commenced operations on July 7, 2025, from Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu. The state-backed carrier began by connecting Enugu to Abuja and Lagos, operating with three Embraer jets in the E170 and E190 series.
The airline is yet to obtain its Air Operator Certificate. Despite this, it has continued operations through its chosen operator, XEJET, a Nigerian-owned aviation company.
Speaking at the airline’s launch, Governor Mbah described the establishment of Enugu Air as a significant milestone for the state. He said the initiative opens up opportunities in a sector that previously seemed out of reach and praised XEJET as a fully Nigerian-owned operator with a track record of sustainable aviation services.
