The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has clarified that its operatives, not bandits, conducted the recent raid at Whitehill Hotel in Minna.
In an official statement, the anti-corruption agency confirmed that the operation was carried out by its Kaduna Zonal Directorate based on credible intelligence, resulting in the arrest of 11 suspected internet fraudsters.
“On Thursday, February 27, 2025, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kaduna Zonal Directorate, apprehended 11 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud,” the statement read.
According to the Commission, the suspects were arrested in broad daylight at Whitehill Hotel in Chanchanga Local Government Area, Niger State, following intelligence reports linking them to fraudulent online activities.
The EFCC emphasized that its personnel conducted the operation professionally and expressed concern over misleading claims suggesting an abduction.
During the raid, officers recovered two vehicles and 13 mobile phones of various brands from the suspects.
“The suspects will be charged to court upon the completion of investigations,” the statement concluded.
