Delta State, Nigeria
Heavy rainfall has led to widespread flooding in the Jeddo, Ugbokodo, and Ughoton communities of Delta State, displacing residents and destroying homes and properties. The destruction has left many families devastated and struggling to find shelter or begin rebuilding.
Locals say the damage is severe and overwhelming, with urgent appeals for government assistance and humanitarian support. “People are suffering already, and now they have to start again from nothing,” a resident shared.
This disaster has once again highlighted the vulnerability of riverine and lowland communities in Nigeria to extreme weather events, as well as the pressing need for better disaster preparedness and flood management systems.
Local leaders and concerned citizens are calling on state and federal agencies to intervene quickly, as the affected communities cannot recover alone.
