In a tragic turn of events, the Delta State Police Command has uncovered the body of 38-year-old site engineer, Chigozie Udalor, who was allegedly murdered and buried in a shallow grave by his employees. The discovery was made on April 2, 2025, following the arrest of two suspects linked to the crime.
Udalor had been overseeing a construction project for his cousin in Akwukwu Igbo community, Oshimili North Local Government Area. He employed four young men from Benue State to assist with the project. On December 10, 2024, these workers reportedly conspired to attack Udalor, striking him on the head with a hammer, resulting in his death. In an attempt to conceal their actions, they buried his body in a shallow grave at the construction site.
The case came to light when Udalor was reported missing by his cousin, Hyacinth Nnalue, on December 12, 2024. An investigation was launched, leading to the arrest of one of the suspects, David Tacho, on March 31, 2025, as he attempted to withdraw money from Udalor’s account using the victim’s mobile phone. Subsequent investigations led to the apprehension of another suspect, Daniel Orshio. Two other suspects, identified as Victor Tacho and Pius Daniel, remain at large.
Preliminary findings revealed that the suspects discovered a substantial sum of money in Udalor’s Moniepoint account, which allegedly motivated their heinous act. The body of the deceased has been exhumed and is awaiting autopsy. Authorities are intensifying efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects and are urging the public to provide any information that could assist in their capture.
This incident underscores the critical importance of trust and vigilance in employer-employee relationships. The community mourns the loss of a dedicated professional whose life was tragically cut short by those he entrusted.
