Video:Delta Police Arrest Hotel Manager, Three Others Over Guest’s Alleged Murder

The Delta State Police Command has arrested the manager of Century Home Hotel in Owhelogbo, Isoko North Local Government Area, along with three others, over the alleged murder of a guest, Bishop Sunday Ogofotha.

According to police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe, the incident occurred on March 21, 2025. Ogofotha, who had traveled from Lagos for a relative’s burial, checked into the hotel and informed his wife of his location. However, when he failed to appear at the event and was unreachable, concerned family members visited the hotel.

Hotel management initially denied his presence, but after persistent questioning, his lifeless body was discovered in one of the rooms, tied up with visible injuries.

Hotel Manager Allegedly Took ₦5 Million Bribe

Investigations revealed that the hotel manager, identified as Godwin, allegedly conspired with two individuals who offered him ₦5 million to grant them access to the victim’s room. Godwin admitted to letting them in without verifying their intentions.

After about an hour, one of the suspects was seen leaving. Godwin later found the room locked from the outside and, upon opening it, discovered Ogofotha dead—but failed to report the incident.

The police have arrested Godwin and three others linked to the crime. Local authorities have also sealed the hotel as investigations continue.

Police Assure Justice for Victim

Authorities have assured the public that the suspects will face the full weight of the law. The police also urged hospitality businesses to enhance security measures and conduct thorough vetting of guests and visitors to prevent similar incidents.
