Tinubu Is Defeatable in 2027 If Opposition Gets ‘Mathematics Right’
Veteran journalist and African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Dele Momodu has outlined what he describes as a winning strategy to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections. In a televised interview on Arise Television on Monday, Momodu stressed that the key to defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) lies in disciplined coalition building, unity, and strategic planning.
Momodu maintained that Tinubu is defeatable if the opposition gets its “mathematics right,” and that the ADC is repositioning itself as a credible alternative with renewed focus on discipline and voter‑centric politics.
ADC’s Reset Plan: Discipline, Unity and Strategic Candidate Selection
According to Momodu, the ADC’s ongoing constitutional review is part of a deliberate reset for the 2027 elections. He admitted that past opposition movements failed largely due to poor coordination and lack of unified strategy.
“When there is a coalition, it is assumed that it is a coalition of co‑joiners. Everyone at this stage is equal. What the party seeks to do is to be different from other parties,” Momodu said.
He underscored the importance of discipline, unity, and strategic candidate selection as pillars that can help the opposition take on the APC and President Tinubu’s administration.
Coalition Building: The Opposition’s Best Shot at 2027
Momodu described coalition building as essential for a viable challenge to the ruling party. He warned against replicating past mistakes, where fragmented opposition efforts diluted votes and weakened political resolve.
The ADC, he explained, is actively engaging in conversations with other parties and stakeholders to forge a broad, disciplined coalition that can present a united front in 2027.
