Daniel Etim-Effiong Admits to Brief Womanizing Phase, Warns Youth Against It
Popular Nollywood actor, Daniel Etim-Effiong, has opened up about a brief period in his past when he lived as a womanizer, acknowledging that it was a learning curve that shaped his current views on relationships and marriage.
The actor, who started out as an engineer before transitioning into Nollywood, made the revelation during a recent interview on the With Chude podcast hosted by Chude Jideonwo.

Actor Reflects on His Past Lifestyle Choices
When asked if he was a womanizer before getting married, Etim-Effiong gave a thoughtful response:
“Maybe there was a time in my life I was. Definitions would differ, but in that definition [dating multiple women at the same time], maybe there was a period in my life that I was. I wouldn’t say for long periods of my life maybe for some certain periods that I explored.”
He described that phase as a “period of learning”, adding that while it may have seemed exciting on the surface, it ultimately lacked emotional fulfillment.
“I learned that certain things don’t necessarily bring you the fulfilment that you think they would. On paper, it feels like that is the life, but experientially, maybe not.”
Advice to Young People: Don’t Start What You Don’t Want to Continue
Commitment Isn’t Automatic in Marriage
Etim-Effiong used the opportunity to advise young people especially men against developing a lifestyle of dating multiple partners, noting that it can create deep-seated habits that are hard to break.
“It is cool to be a player but if you develop that habit or lifestyle, you won’t automatically change overnight. Don’t develop something you don’t want to continue for the rest of your life.”
He warned that many people enter marriage expecting to change instantly, not realizing that emotional discipline is a “muscle” that must be trained over time.
“If you are not able to commit to one person before marriage, that won’t automatically change when you marry. When challenges come, you’ll be tempted to run or find someone else who listens to you instead of working things out.”
