Dangote Unveils ₦15 Billion Development Blueprint for Kano University
Transforming ADUSTECH Into a World-Class Institution
Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man and Chancellor of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), has launched a ₦15 billion development plan to overhaul the university’s infrastructure and academic programs over the next five years.
The plan, announced during the university’s 5th combined convocation ceremony in Wudil, Kano, is funded through the Aliko Dangote Foundation. Dangote says the goal is to position ADUSTECH among Nigeria’s top three universities, with a focus on science, technology, and innovation.
What the ₦15 Billion Will Deliver
The comprehensive development strategy includes:
Student Accommodation: New male and female hostels to address the growing need for student housing.
Engineering Complex: A cutting-edge laboratory to support research and practical training.
ICT Infrastructure: A multipurpose computer lab with round-the-clock internet access.
Power Supply: Installation of a mini solar power plant for stable electricity across campus.
Administrative Buildings: A new Senate building to enhance administrative operations.
In a major boost to student prospects, Dangote also promised automatic employment in his companies—including Dangote Cement and Dangote Refinery—for top engineering graduates from the university.
Government Support and Convocation Highlights
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who attended the ceremony, awarded foreign scholarships to nine top-performing graduates for postgraduate studies. He also reiterated the state’s commitment to ADUSTECH’s development, noting that his administration has already settled ₦2 billion in inherited liabilities and is working on critical infrastructure, including roads and drainage systems within the campus.
Over 18,000 students graduated during the convocation, with leaders emphasizing the need to align higher education with global standards to foster innovation and job readiness.
