Controversial media personality Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze has claimed that religion is failing Nigerians and hindering the country’s development.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, Daddy Freeze argued that religious devotion in Nigeria has not produced measurable progress or improved living standards.
“My problem with religion is that it has no results. Where is the prosperity? Where is the love?” he asked, noting that despite Nigeria being one of the most religious nations, its citizens continue to face significant economic and social challenges.
He contrasted Nigeria with countries like Japan, which he described as less religious but far more developed. “How is religion working for us? You say God loves us because we are religious, so how come the Japanese are the ones enjoying their own heaven on earth? They are developed,” he said.
Daddy Freeze also raised concerns about Nigeria’s life expectancy, stating that it is among the lowest globally despite widespread religiosity.
“We pay more tithes than taxes in this country, yet our prayers and sacrifices don’t seem to reflect on the condition of our nation,” he added.
His comments have reignited debates over the role of religion in governance, societal development, and the quality of life in Nigeria
