Controversial Cleric Odumeje Announces 2027 Presidential Bid, Advocates for Digital Leadership in Nigeria

Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, widely known as Odumeje, has declared his intention to run for Nigeria’s presidency in the 2027 elections, emphasizing the necessity for youthful and digital-savvy leadership to propel the nation forward.

In a recent video, the Onitsha-based cleric and founder of the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry expressed his desire to modernize Nigeria and introduce a digital lifestyle, even proposing the construction of a main road named Citadel.

Odumeje stated: “We need a young leader in this country, and I think I am coming out. We need a young leader as a president, a digital leader, not old cargoes. I think I will come out, I will come out for president.” He further questioned his audience’s readiness for his leadership, asserting his understanding of their needs and wants. He added, “I want to construct a main road called Citadel for you. I want to give you a modern life, a digital life.”

The announcement has elicited mixed reactions online, with some dismissing it as a publicity stunt, while others view it as a bold move in the political landscape. As of now, Odumeje has not disclosed which political party he intends to represent. His declaration comes well ahead of the 2027 presidential elections, stirring conversations about the future of Nigeria’s leadership.
