Burna Boy headlines AFCON Fan Zone finale in Rabat
Grammy award-winning Nigerian musician, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, will headline the final concert of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 Fan Zone in Rabat, Morocco.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed the development in a post on its official X handle on Friday.
“Burna Boy, Stormzy, Stonebwoy, and Jaylann live on January 16. The #TotalEnergiesAFCON2025 Fan Zone Concerts finale,” CAF stated.
Concert details and artistes lineup
Tagged “The AFCON Last Dance,” the concert will hold on Friday, January 16, 2026, at the OLM Souissi Fan Zone in Rabat, with performances scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. local time.
CAF also shared official posters of the artistes billed to perform at the finale event, marking the closing of the tournament’s fan zone entertainment series.
Music has played a central role throughout the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which kicked off on December 21, 2025.
AFCON opening ceremony and Davido’s performance
The tournament’s opening ceremony in Rabat featured Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, alongside French Montana and RedOne.
Their joint performance, titled Le Show, took place shortly before Morocco’s opening match against Comoros at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
CAF described Davido as an artiste whose global success reflects the celebratory and confident spirit of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Morocco knock out Nigeria as tournament nears end
The finale concert comes days after host nation Morocco eliminated Nigeria from the competition.
Morocco defeated the Super Eagles 4–2 on penalties following a goalless 120 minutes in their semi-final clash in Rabat on Wednesday night.
While goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali saved one penalty, misses from Samuel Chukwueze and Bruno Onyemaechi proved decisive, with Youssef En-Nesyri converting the winning kick.
Nigeria will now face Egypt in the third-place match on Saturday, January 17, at the Mohammed V Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 11 a.m. ET.
Morocco will take on Senegal in the final on Sunday, January 18, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium. Kick-off is set for 2:00 p.m. ET, as the hosts chase their first AFCON title since 1976.
Nigerian artistes on global stages
Nigerian musicians have continued to feature prominently at major international events.
Artistes such as Wizkid, Rema, Tiwa Savage, CKay, and Patoranking have all performed on global platforms in recent years.
In July 2023, Wizkid became the first African artiste to headline a concert at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, performing to about 45,000 fans. He also made history earlier that year as the first African musician to headline the Glastonbury Festival.
Tiwa Savage was the only Nigerian artiste invited to perform at the coronation concert of King Charles III in 2023, while Rema became the first Nigerian artiste to perform at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in France in October 2023.
