Burna Boy held at Moroccan airport
CAF President Patrice Motsepe has revealed that Nigerian music star Burna Boy was briefly held by customs officers at a Moroccan airport over a jewellery-related issue.
Motsepe disclosed this during a recent press conference, explaining that the incident happened when the Grammy-winning singer arrived in Morocco to headline the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Fan Zone concert in Rabat.
Motsepe intervenes
According to the CAF president, customs officials stopped Burna Boy after noticing his gold jewellery, prompting a delay at the airport.
“Recently I was called that I need to intervene because Burna Boy was stopped at the airport after customs officers noticed his heavy and beautiful gold jewellery. I intervened and it was resolved,” Motsepe said.
He added that the matter was settled amicably following his intervention.
AFCON fan zone concert
Burna Boy later went on to headline the AFCON Fan Zone concert in Rabat on January 16.
The event also featured performances from Ghanaian singer Stonebwoy, alongside Moroccan artistes Stormy and Jaylann.
