BREAKING: Atiku, Peter Obi, El-Rufai Kick-Start Movement to End Tinubu’s Rule in 2027

Abuja, Nigeria – A coalition of opposition leaders, led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, and ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has launched a political movement aimed at removing President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.

The development was confirmed during a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, where Atiku openly declared, “Yes,” when asked whether the gathering was to initiate a coalition against Tinubu.

Condemnation of Rivers State Emergency Rule

During the press briefing, the opposition figures strongly condemned Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State and the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Atiku described the move as “unlawful” and a “clear subversion of democracy,” urging Nigerians, lawmakers, and the judiciary to reject what he called an “illegal power grab.”

“The Nigerian Constitution does not empower the President to remove an elected Governor, Deputy Governor, or State Assembly under any circumstances,” Atiku stated, highlighting constitutional breaches by the Tinubu administration.

He accused the federal government of manufacturing a crisis in Rivers to justify emergency rule and warned of potential instability in the Niger Delta region.

Opposition Leaders Rally Against Tinubu

Other political heavyweights present at the conference included:
Babachir Lawal – Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation
Yunusa Tanko – Representing Peter Obi
Peter Ahmeh – CUPP National Secretary
Segun Showunmi – Convener of The Alternative

Notably, former governors Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), and ex-APC National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu sent apologies, signaling broad opposition support.

With the 2027 election still two years away, this emerging coalition sets the stage for a major political battle against Tinubu’s administration. Analysts say the unity of key opposition figures could reshape Nigeria’s political landscape.
