A 30-year-old woman, identified as Ibekwe Ezinne Mary, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her 17-year-old salesgirl, Ihechidere Favour Uka, to death following an argument at a cosmetics shop in Lagos State.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
According to information shared by the victim’s family, Ihechidere, who worked at the cosmetics shop, was sent by her employer to bring an item. When she returned later than expected, a disagreement reportedly broke out between them.
Family sources claimed that during the confrontation, the suspect slapped the teenager twice, after which Ihechidere allegedly slapped her employer once in response. The suspect was said to have then picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed the girl in the chest.
Ihechidere reportedly bled heavily and later died from her injuries.
The family further disclosed that the suspect has been arrested by the police and is currently in custody, where she allegedly confessed to the act. Police investigations are said to be ongoing.
The incident has sparked public outrage, with renewed calls for justice and increased scrutiny over the safety, welfare, and treatment of underage workers in Nigeria.
