Blaqbonez Says He’s Open to Non-Monogamous Marriage
Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule, popularly known as Blaqbonez, has stirred conversations after revealing that he wouldn’t mind being in an open marriage.
Speaking on a recent episode of the In My Opinion podcast, the “Back in Uni” crooner explained that he believes sexual exclusivity isn’t necessary for a successful marriage.
According to him, most married couples experience a decline in sexual intimacy over time, and exploring intimacy outside marriage shouldn’t be considered a betrayal.
“There’s More to Marriage Than Sex” — Blaqbonez
Blaqbonez argued that a partner being intimate with someone else doesn’t mean they’ve replaced their spouse emotionally or mentally.
He said:
“I don’t mind having an open marriage. Most married couples, you don’t keep having the same amount of sex you were having at the beginning—it will reduce.
“If somebody is satisfying her sexually while I’m hustling, touring, I’m not available to be getting intimate with her all the time. That is okay. There’s more to marriage than sex. I don’t mind that you’re sleeping with someone else provided you’re dedicated to me.”
“No One Can Replace Me Mentally or Emotionally”
The rapper further noted that while his wife could be sexually involved with someone else, he’s confident that no one could easily replace the bond he shares with her.
“It will be difficult for a random person to match up with what I have put in there. Nobody is just going to get her sexually and also mentally addicted to them. They probably can’t make her laugh the way I do.”
He also added a unique twist to his idea of marriage, saying:
“If I’m even going to get married, I need two rooms. Me and my wife will only meet when we want to have intimacy.”
Fans React to Blaqbonez’s Open Marriage View
Blaqbonez’s remarks have sparked mixed reactions online, with many fans debating whether open marriages could work in Nigerian society. Some praised his honesty and progressive thinking, while others criticized his views as unrealistic and against traditional marriage values.
