Gates has long advocated for AI’s potential. In 2017, he identified AI as the most promising field for startups. By 2023, AI’s progress had surpassed his expectations. Notably, OpenAI achieved a challenge he set—creating an AI model capable of excelling at AP Biology much earlier than anticipated. Gates remarked, “They finished it in just a few months,” calling AI “the most important advance in technology since the graphical user interface.”
