Bauchi Woman Allegedly Stabs Husband to Death Over Domestic Dispute

A woman in Nadabo village, Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State, has allegedly stabbed her husband to death following a domestic disagreement.

According to a statement by Bauchi State Police Command spokesperson Ahmed Wakil, the tragic incident occurred on February 24, 2025. The suspect, 25-year-old Salamatu Danjuma, was apprehended after a dispute over the custody of her six-year-old daughter from a previous relationship escalated fatally.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the couple had ongoing marital conflicts regarding the child’s custody. While initial discussions with the wife’s family suggested that the child would be welcomed into their home, the husband later refused, leading to heightened tensions,” Wakil stated.

The disagreement took a violent turn when Salamatu, in the heat of the argument, reportedly grabbed a knife from their bedroom and fatally stabbed her husband.

Police officers from the Bununu Divisional Headquarters responded swiftly to a distress call, evacuating the victim to Bununu Cottage Hospital. However, medical personnel later confirmed his death due to the severity of his injuries.

Commissioner of Police Auwal Mohammed has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a thorough and discreet investigation into the case.
