Arise News anchor and analyst, Chiogo Constance Ikokwu, has announced her decision to step away from journalism as she transitions into active politics.
She said the move was influenced by her direct exposure to governance gaps over the years, stressing that professionals with insight and competence must go beyond analysis to actively shape policy and leadership.
Known for her strong record in holding power to account and amplifying public interest issues, Ikokwu described the decision as a shift from observation to direct participation in nation-building.
She confirmed her intention to represent Idemili North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, seeking the mandate to serve her community at the legislative level.
According to her, the transition marks a continuation of service, built on her experience in telling impactful stories, engaging national issues, and giving voice to underrepresented groups.
Ikokwu noted that her journalism career provided her with firsthand understanding of citizens’ realities, reinforcing her belief that ethical and informed leadership is critical to national progress.
She added that politics should not be left solely to career politicians, urging more Nigerians with ideas, integrity, and capacity to step forward and contribute meaningfully.
