The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed readiness to welcome Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno into its fold following his recent criticisms of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), his current political base.
In a statement issued Wednesday by APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the ruling party responded to Eno’s metaphor comparing the PDP to a failing aircraft that can no longer fly safely—remarks he made during a recent event in Akwa Ibom.
“We couldn’t agree more that Plane PDP has become demonstrably inoperable and unsafe for travel,” Morka said, echoing the governor’s concerns.
He added that the APC is fully prepared to offer Governor Eno a political landing spot, describing the party as “fit and ready to fly His Excellency and entourage to their desired destination.”
Morka further stated, “Our pilots and crew are highly competent, welcoming, attentive to detail, and on standby to serve. We assure Governor Eno that a flight with us will be a mighty good ride to remember.”
The comment comes at a time of growing turbulence within the PDP, as the party grapples with internal divisions and a wave of defections.
Earlier this week, the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) held an emergency meeting to address recent exits, including that of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. Following the meeting, Acting National Chairman Umar Damagun directed the party’s national legal adviser to take action against defecting members.
Governor Eno has not officially announced plans to leave the PDP, but his remarks suggest possible political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.
