Joshua Returns to Training Following Tragic Accident
Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has resumed gym training as he continues recovery after a car crash that killed two of his close team members in Nigeria.
The 36-year-old British-Nigerian boxer was involved in a serious accident on December 29, 2025, on the Lagos‑Ibadan Expressway. Joshua sustained minor injuries, while his strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami, and trainer, Latif “Latz” Ayodele, were killed.
Training Resumes
Joshua shared videos showing himself cycling, hitting pads, and working on cardio, describing the sessions as “mental strength therapy.”

Promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed that Joshua’s return to competitive boxing is not yet planned, emphasizing the fighter will take the necessary time to recover physically and mentally before deciding on future bouts.
Focus on Rehabilitation
The training marks a cautious step back into normal routines after the accident, with Joshua prioritising rehabilitation and recovery.
