An 18-year-old apprentice in Anambra State allegedly impregnated at least 10 girls in just five months, including his master’s daughter and a salesgirl.
The allegation, which has yet to be confirmed by credible news outlets or official sources, attributes the revelation to the Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Hon. Ify Obinabo. However, no formal statement from the commissioner or the ministry has been released as of the time of this report.
This claim has sparked conversations across social media platforms, raising questions about youth behavior, supervision, and sexual health education in the state.
While this specific report remains unverified, Commissioner Ify Obinabo has been active in addressing sexual exploitation and related abuses in Anambra. In November 2023, she led the rescue of 20 girls—two of them minors—who were trafficked into prostitution in Oba community, Idemili South Local Government Area. The girls were deceived with false job offers and later forced into sleeping with up to 10 men daily, often without food or proper accommodation.
Earlier in July 2023, Obinabo also played a central role in the arrest of a couple running a brothel that exploited underage girls in Nnewi. The suspects, known locally as “Madam Padded” and her husband, attempted to bribe the commissioner with ₦2 million, but were arrested in a sting operation she orchestrated.
These cases underline a broader issue of sexual abuse, exploitation, and poor community monitoring, especially involving vulnerable girls and young women.
As of now, the story about the apprentice remains unconfirmed. thewatch.ng will continue to monitor for updates and provide verified information as it emerges.
