Spain international and former Chelsea forward Álvaro Morata, now at Como, has addressed his separation from wife Alice Campello, insisting both are suffering while denying rumours of an affair.
The couple, who married in June 2017 and share four children, had attempted to reconcile earlier this year but have now confirmed the end of their marriage.
Speaking about the split, Morata said, “We are suffering because we are two people who love each other, but we don’t understand each other. Alice isn’t having a worse time than me… we’re both hurting.”
Reports suggest Morata has moved out of the family home, but the former Chelsea striker and Campello are maintaining a cordial relationship for the sake of their children.
Morata also dismissed allegations linking him romantically to sports management expert Elena Sirigu. “No special friend or anything like that, I’m not interested in that right now. People who claim there are third parties involved in a separation like this, especially with children involved, simply have no heart,” he added.
The striker first separated from Campello in August 2024, shortly after helping Spain win the Euro 2024 final against England.
Morata is currently on loan at Como from AC Milan and has had a decorated career, winning Champions League titles and domestic league trophies in Spain, Italy, and Turkey. During his time at Chelsea, he scored 24 goals and won both the FA Cup and Europa League.
