Former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, has described President Bola Tinubu as his father while celebrating the President’s 73rd birthday today, March 29, 2025.
In a heartfelt message titled “My Father, My President, Happy Birthday,” Ngelale praised Tinubu’s unwavering support for those around him, referring to him as the “Last Man Standing.”
Ngelale’s Tribute to Tinubu
Ngelale, who stepped down from his role as Tinubu’s spokesperson and Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action on September 7, 2024, shared how his relationship with the President evolved from professional to deeply personal.
“On my first day serving in the present government, I only knew H.E. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as my President, my Boss, the leader of our great nation, Nigeria. I had not had the privilege of being around him, except on two brief occasions before that day, despite a very active campaign effort on his behalf,” he wrote.
According to Ngelale, Tinubu’s mentorship and guidance shaped his outlook, adding that the President is someone who stands by those he believes in, even when the odds are against them.
“For those who have the rare privilege of knowing him, he is the last man standing in your corner when all odds are stacked against you; rooting you on and guiding you to success,” he said.
Stepping Down for Family Reasons
Ngelale’s resignation from his role in September 2024 was linked to medical matters affecting his nuclear family. His decision was officially communicated through a memo to the Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
Despite stepping away from public office, his birthday message underscores his continued admiration for Tinubu, whom he calls “Daddy.”
“Daddy taught me that the cost and value of rigorous mentorship is the price of a glorious future, and that it is only paid back once it is paid forward to the next generation.”
Prayers for Tinubu’s Leadership
Concluding his message, Ngelale prayed for wisdom, peace, and strength for Tinubu as he continues to lead the country.
“May God Almighty strengthen you with divine wisdom, peace, health, and all that is required of you to deliver the country of our dreams. Happy Birthday,” he wrote.
