Africa Magic Opens Entries for 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA)

Africa Magic, in partnership with MultiChoice and Canal+, has officially opened entries for the 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), inviting actors, producers, directors, and filmmakers from across Africa to submit their work for consideration in one of the continent’s most prestigious entertainment award platforms.

Submissions for the AMVCA 2026 opened on Sunday, 11 January, and will run until Sunday, 15 February 2026. Eligible projects must have been publicly screened, broadcast, or exhibited between 1 January and 31 December 2025. Filmmakers are required to submit entries online through the official AMVCA portal, uploading full preview copies of their work exactly as they were shown or broadcast.

Now in its 12th edition, the AMVCA continues to celebrate and reward excellence in African film, television, and digital storytelling, reinforcing its role as a premier platform for recognising creativity and achievement in the continent’s entertainment industry. This year’s awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Lagos, Nigeria, in May 2026.

For the first time, the AMVCA has expanded its Indigenous Language categories to include two new awards: Best Indigenous Language – North Africa and Best Indigenous Language – Central Africa. These additions reflect a growing commitment to broadening regional representation and recognising narratives told in diverse African languages.

The full award slate will feature 32 categories, including 18 decided by a jury and 11 determined by audience votes, alongside two Lifetime Achievement honors and one Trailblazer Award. This lineup reinforces the balance between critical recognition and audience engagement in celebrating outstanding performers and content creators.

The AMVCA remains one of Africa’s most anticipated entertainment events, known for its glamorous red carpet moments, cultural significance, and celebration of artistic excellence. Filmmakers, producers, actors, and content creators are encouraged to submit their best works and be part of Africa’s storytelling legacy.
