Abia First Lady Visits Key Social Care Institutions, Pledges Support
The wife of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, has visited the Amaudo Mental Health Facility in Itumbauzo, Uzuakoli Leprosy Settlement, and Arochukwu Correctional Centre, reiterating the State Government’s commitment to the welfare of vulnerable citizens.
At the Mental Health Facility, represented by Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr. Maureen Aghukwa, Mrs. Otti emphasized the administration’s focus on empathy, inclusion, and respect for the dignity of all citizens. She assured inmates that they remain an essential part of the government’s social responsibility agenda, adding that governance extends beyond urban centers to those in special care institutions.
“The distribution of food items and essential supplies is part of our broader effort to ensure vulnerable populations feel supported and valued,” she said.
The Very Reverend Ken Nwaubani, who received the donations, thanked the Governor and his wife for their consistent concern. He highlighted that recent road projects leading to the facility have eased long-standing hardships and restored dignity to residents and caregivers alike.
Support for Leprosy Patients and Infrastructure Investments
At the Uzuakoli Leprosy Settlement, Mrs. Otti, again represented by Dr. Aghukwa, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to targeted investments in healthcare, education, infrastructure, and social welfare. She assured residents that no group would be excluded from the benefits of governance in Abia State.
Encouraging Positive Transformation for Inmates
During her visit to Arochukwu Correctional Centre, the Abia First Lady encouraged inmates to embrace positive transformation, avoid future offenses, and make meaningful contributions to society after their release. She donated cash and essential items to support the daily upkeep of inmates, reinforcing the government’s ongoing commitment to social welfare and rehabilitation.
