50 Cent Trolls Longtime Rival Irv Gotti Following His Passing at 54
Rapper 50 Cent, 49, took a jab at his longtime rival, Irv Gotti, on Wednesday after the Murder Inc. co-founder passed away at the age of 54.
The hip-hop mogul shared a photo of himself smoking hookah while sitting next to a tombstone engraved with “RIP.” He also posted an old red carpet picture of Gotti, captioning it: “I’m smoking on dat Gotti pack. Nah, God bless him. LOL.”
Gotti’s death followed reports of a stroke and brain bleed. He had a history of health issues, including diabetes.
When news first broke that Gotti was on life support, 50 Cent posted on Instagram: “Damn, I wanted him to see my new shows yo!” The post was later deleted.
This isn’t the first time 50 Cent has mocked Gotti’s health struggles. In August 2024, after reports surfaced that Gotti had suffered a stroke, 50 Cent posted a photo of him walking with a cane, writing: “Damn homie, in high school you was the man homie, WTF happened to you?”—a reference to his 2002 hit Wanksta. He added: “I want Irv to get well, so he can have to watch my next wave LOL.”
A Feud Decades in the Making
The rivalry between 50 Cent and Irv Gotti dates back to the late 1990s, rooted in the ongoing tension between Murder Inc. and 50 Cent’s G-Unit Records.
In 1999, a close associate of 50 Cent allegedly robbed Ja Rule, then Murder Inc.’s biggest artist. The following year, 50 Cent was stabbed at New York’s Hit Factory studio during an altercation with Murder Inc. executives, with rapper Black Child later claiming responsibility.
In May 2000, 50 Cent was shot nine times outside his grandmother’s home in Queens. Authorities suspected the attack was orchestrated by drug kingpin Kenneth “Supreme” McGriff, who had ties to Gotti and Murder Inc., though McGriff was never charged in connection with the shooting.
Over the years, the feud has continued, with 50 Cent frequently taunting Gotti, including when Gotti claimed to have been romantically involved with Ashanti—only for her to later rekindle her relationship with Nelly.
Despite decades of animosity, 50 Cent’s latest remarks have once again reignited public attention on one of hip-hop’s longest-running rivalries.
