Renowned musician Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face, has weighed in on the ongoing debate comparing singer Wizkid to the late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
The debate reignited after Wizkid claimed he is “bigger” than Fela, in response to criticism from Seun Kuti, who challenged comparisons between the Ojuelegba crooner and his legendary father.
In a snippet from the upcoming episode of the Mic On podcast, 2Face described the comparison as “ridiculous,” explaining that it is both disrespectful to Fela’s legacy and unfair to Wizkid’s career.
The African Queen crooner emphasized that placing Fela and Wizkid side by side ignores their different eras, impacts, and unique contributions to Nigerian music.
“Comparing Fela with Wizkid is ridiculous. Apart from the fact that it is disrespectful to Fela, at the same time, it is also unfair to Wizkid,” 2Face said.
